Keep Rising To The Top Dance Company

Keep Rising To The Top's (KR3TS) mission is to broaden the notion of what a dancer is and to promote the preservation of ethnic and cultural dances. Based in Spanish Harlem, KR3TS fulfills a need in the community to provide a positive alternative to social and street pressures by providing dance classes and support programs in a non-discriminating atmosphere. KR3TS also carries out its mission through its core-performance group that fosters pre-professional dancers. In great support to the community, the dance company was developed and is run by dancer/choreographer, Violeta Galagarza.

KR3TS Dance Company caters to children and young adults of lower to middle income families in Latino communities within New York City. The company also opens its doors to any other community. Members learn to express their talents through dance, and are encouraged to set goals, improve their self-esteem, learn to act as part of a team, and to dream. Black Blingaz

Founded in 1998 in Spanish town St. Catherine Jamaica, by John and Migz Bling, Black Blingaz have survived the fights and struggles of ghetto life to become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to dancing as a form of entertainment, schooling, and encouragement.

Black Blingza is the winner of the 2008 IRIE FM (Jamaica’s premium Reggae radio station) “Best Original Dance Move”, and the 2007 Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) award winner for “Best Dance”.

Black Blingaz first came to the public eye during 2006 after showcasing their new dance call “Tek Weh Yo Self”. The simplicity of the dance was sure to make it a hit, and a hit it was!!! For the first time in Jamaican dance history, Black Blingaz created a new dance move that was not created by the late great Bogle (aka Mr. Wacky). From the dance floor to the living rooms of every nation “Tek Weh Yo Self” was the dance of choice. Black Blingaz then went on to create other hit dance moves such as, Dah Way Deh, Step To Them, and Obama Rock.

Along with John and Migz, other members include Pink Bling, Marlon Bling, German Bling and Chris Bling. Extended “family” includes Reno Bling, Kelliaz Bling and Peace Bling.

With a style that resonates the Jamaican Dance Hall culture to the core, Black Blingaz continues to add new life to Dance Hall by traveling around the globe, demonstrating their message of dance and happiness.

Kadillac Dancers

Kadillac Dancers have been performing together for six years. The group is in fact an amalgamation of two dance groups, Bling – Bling and Kadillac. The group is comprised of four principal dancers: Howard Davis and Ronaldo Barrett from ‘3miles’ and Howard Dennis and Kevon Anderson of ‘Waterhouse.’ The two groups were rivals on the Jamaican dancehall circuit, but never had the opportunity to square off against each other. When The Ministry of Health sponsored a dance competition for HIV/STD awareness, the groups elected to join forces and enter as a single unit-Kadillac Dancers.

Since then, they have been Gold medalists in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Festival Dance Competition as well as in the Caribbean Championship of Performing Arts. The group has performed on stages throughout Jamaica and around the world. They have been seen on Reggae Sumfest and Morgan Heritage's Eastfest, and internationally, they have appeared in Japan, Canada, and in several major US cities including Washington DC, Orlando, New York, Boston, Hartford, Los Angeles and Miami.

Kadillac Dancers give back to the community by teaching dancehall to inner city youths and dance groups under a program sponsored by the National Housing Trust. Some of these groups have gone on to emulate the success of Kadillac Dancers by winning gold medals in the JCDC National Dance Competition.
